Sunday Inspiration – Prayer pt. 1

I decided to do a series on prayer because I know that my prayer life is in need of some fine tuning. Prayer is very basic but I have always been under the impression that it is hard to pray. I always thought it had to be long and drawn out. Thought I had to say certain things, be on my knees. I felt that because I didn’t sound the way folks do in church that my prayers weren’t really prayers.

How wrong I was.

So I figured that if I had misconceptions, others did as well.

What I am going to share with you are the methods that work for me. I will share scriptures that I have found to help me.

This is as much for me as it is for you. I pray that it touches you in some way.

Let us begin:

When you pray, you should always pray with a purpose. Romans 8:26

Sometimes we are sure what to pray about. We get on our knees (or whatever position we pray in) and can’t find the words. I know sometimes when I pray, I say the same thing every single day. It’s almost like as soon as I assume the position, I hit the play button on the tap recorder. Thank God that the Spirit makes intercessions for us.

Ask, Seek, Knock. Matthew 7:7 & 8

I am amazed every time I look at the things that I have all because I asked for them. So many times we see stuff that we want but are afraid to ask for them out of fear of rejection. If you don’t ask, you will never know what the result would have been.

You also have to seek those things out. You can’t just assume because you asked that it is going to just show up in your life. You have to put in the work and go after what you know. That’s like me saying I want to be a New York Times Best-selling novelist without taking out the time to write a best-selling novel.

Would you say “I want a house” without looking at different houses, taking home ownership classes, saving money, asking the bank for a loan? Or would you just expect that house to just show up?

Keep knocking on doors that refuse to open for you. Pray those doors down. Nothing will come to you while you are sitting around wishing, hoping, wanting, thinking. You have to go out and be proactive in this life.

If you saw $20 sitting on the ground, are you going to wish you that was yours or are you going to reach down, pick it up and claim it as yours?

God wants us to ask Him. He wants us to seek after Him. He wants us to knock on the doors of Heaven.

When you pray today, be specific. Pray with a purpose. Ask, seek, and knock until things begin to happen.

“Knock, and it will be opened to you.”

Blessings & Prosperity!

This is Jewells signing out…

P.S. Next Sunday’s Inspiration will not appear due to my going on vacation. It will be back the following Sunday for part 2.
