My Story Monday: I’m Not A Dark Girl…I Am Me

If I could stand on a mountain top yelling those words, I would.

I.

Am.

Me.

I recorded this video two years ago for Women’s Empowerment Month hosted on a blog. After watching Dark Girls on OWN last night, I went and dug up this video I did a couple years ago on how being told I was too dark broke my self-esteem.

People will always have something to say about you. Your skin color is a part of you. No amount of bleach will ever change that. God created you in His image. You are beautiful no matter what complexion your skin. Embrace you. Love you.

Hope my story encourages someone, not just as it relates to skin color, but in anything someone has negatively told you that you accepted as truth. May this liberate you.

Blessings,
Julia
